The Board of Secondary Education Manipur announced the class 10 examination results on Monday, with an impressive pass rate of 93.03%, marking the highest in the last decade, an official reported. This remarkable achievement comes despite the ongoing violence and unrest in Manipur, which has significantly disrupted the lives of many students and their families.
The pass percentage for boys was 93.07%, while for girls it was 93.00%. Out of 37,547 students who appeared for the exam, 34,931 passed. This success is particularly notable given the challenging circumstances the students have faced.
In a significant change, this year saw the introduction of a grading system in Manipur for the first time. Students were awarded grades instead of being ranked in a merit list, following the state cabinet’s approval of this system earlier in the year. This shift aims to reduce stress and competition among students, fostering a more holistic approach to education.
Tengnoupal district achieved the highest pass percentage at 99.65%, while Jiribam district had the lowest at 50.71%. These results highlight both the successes and the disparities within the state’s education system.
Amidst the backdrop of violence in Manipur, where tensions have disrupted daily life and posed significant challenges to the educational environment, the students’ performance is a testament to their resilience and dedication. The ongoing conflict has undoubtedly created an additional layer of difficulty, making these results even more commendable.
