A: The best marine engineering programme in the country is offered by the Marine Engineering Research Institute, Kolkata. Admission into the four year degree program is through IIT-JEE followed by counseling and medical examination. To be admitted into this programme, good physical and mental health is necessary as is good eyesight through glasses are allowed up to plus or minus 2.5. The upper age limit is 20 years as on Oct 1st in the year of application. Admission to this program is open to students who have completed their class XII or equivalent with physics, chemistry and maths and has an average of at least 35%.
