Mercedes-Benz partners with RV College of Engineering for EV skill development

Mercedes-Benz India and Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India have joined forces to enhance skill development at R.V. College of Engineering, aiming to nurture talent for the EV and automotive sector.

The collaboration introduces an EV module within the Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) course at R.V. College of Engineering, Bengaluru. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India has established a state-of-the-art EV lab to provide hands-on learning experiences.

The initiative, inaugurated by key stakeholders including Manu Saale, MD, and CEO of MBRDI, and Shekhar Bhide, Vice-President of Mercedes-Benz India, aims to equip students with the necessary skills for the evolving automotive industry, particularly in the realm of electric mobility.

Speaking about the initiative, Manu Saale emphasized the importance of a skilled workforce in fostering a sustainable EV ecosystem. He highlighted the immersive learning opportunities provided by the enhanced program and the EV Lab, aimed at empowering students for future mobility challenges.

The newly introduced EV module is part of the ADAM course, designed to offer comprehensive training in cutting-edge EV technologies aligned with global industry standards. The EV Lab is equipped with advanced technologies and simulation dynamics to facilitate live demonstrations and training sessions.

Shekhar Bhide stressed the importance of upskilling and re-skilling initiatives in preparing the workforce for the future of e-mobility. He emphasized the need for academic curricula to adapt to the evolving requirements of the Indian EV industry, making students industry-ready.

The collaboration aims to address the growing demand for EV-trained professionals and create opportunities for students to excel in the automotive sector. Dr. MP Shyam expressed optimism about the enhanced EV module’s potential to provide students with a competitive edge and lucrative career prospects.

The ADAM course, initiated by Mercedes-Benz in 2006, has been successful in various technical institutions across the country, offering practical insights into advanced vehicle systems and ensuring high employability among graduates.
