Established in 1979 by the Gokula Education Foundation (GEF), MS Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) to conduct the undergraduate MBBS course and postgraduate degree and diploma courses in various medical disciplines. Sited on a 65 acre campus, the main college building is spread across a total floor area of 300,000 square feet with an adjoining teaching hospital -- MS Ramaiah Medical Hospital. MS Ramaiah Medical College (MSRMC) was initially affiliated with Bangalore University and since 1996-97 is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
The main college building -- "Vidya Soudha" – is set on a total floor area of 3 lakh square feet with an adjoining teaching hospital with 1,050 beds. The teaching hospital offers a range of clinical specialties and modern diagnostic facilities. The department of radio diagnosis offers facilities like Helical CT scanning, MRI, Color Doppler Unit, Ultrasound and Mammography. The department of cardiology has a dedicated Cathlab, Heart Rhythm Management unit including Electro-physiological section for studies in three dimensional mapping and ablation. Cardiac bypass and valve replacement are done as routine procedures by department of cardio-thoracic Surgery. Super specialty facilities exist in neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, gastro-enterology, nephro-urology, endocrinology, cardiology and cardio-thoracic surgery, plastic surgery, pediatric surgery & vascular surgery. MSRMC also provides an IMS (Information Management System) to update parents and guardians about the academic progress of their wards. Student attendance and performance statistics are regularly monitored and updated on the college website to which the parents can have access using a secure password. The library houses over 14,000 books and 10,000 volumes and is an active member of "HELINET" consortium offering more than 700 indexed national and international health/ medical journals. It has more than 48 computer terminals with internet accessibility and facilities for scanning, printing and photocopying. In addition, a CD and video based journal section with 'Proquest' system provides access to journals dating back to seven years from 235 foreign countries. On campus is also a food court which provides a variety of South Indian and North Indian food to students at affordable prices. Ayush Arogyadhama & Yoga Centre M. S. Ramaiah Medical College also exposes undergraduate and postgraduate students to alternative medicine systems such as Ayurveda and Yoga. Fundamental principles of Ayurveda including the vital energies, the tissues, and the metabolisms as well as treatments are part of the course curriculum. The yoga centre conducts courses and also teaches pranic healing.

For Undergraduate Course Admission into the undergraduate MBBS programme is through the Karnataka government conducted Common Entrance Test and COMEDK, a entrance test conducted by the Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association under the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) banner. This entrance examination is used to fill NRI and management quota seats of private medical colleges in Karnataka. Non-Karnataka students (students not eligible to be considered in the Karnataka quota) can appear for the COMEDK examination for admission into MS Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore. Eligibility: Candidates with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology at 10+2 level or any equivalent exam. Applicants must be above the age of 17 years. For Postgraduate Courses Admission is based on the marks obtained in entrance test conducted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Candidates must possess a MBBS degree.
