Nath Valley School (NVS), Aurangabad, is a co-educational school offering day boarding and fully residential options. It was founded in 1992, and is managed by the Aurangabad Vidya Mandir Trust. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board, providing education from class I to XII. Located on a 20 acre campus, Nath Valley School offers modern academic and sports facilities.
As a day boarding school, it offers extended school hours — 8:30 am to 4:45 pm for secondary school and 8:30 am to 2:45 pm for the primary school. These timings allow students to explore extra-curricular interests, as well as follow academic pursuits.
The mission of the school is to educate children “to be world citizens, devoid of prejudices, and honest to themselves, and to challenge them to learn with pleasure and achieve perfection in whatever they do, preparing themselves for a future of their choice as proud Indians.”
The school is spread over a 20 acre campus with a large playground, fields for football and cricket, two basketball courts, a tennis court and a sports complex. The sport complex hosts a squash court, badminton courts, indoor basketball court and table tennis equipment. A 400 metre track allows students to practice for field and track events.
Well-equipped science labs, computer lab, library, spacious classrooms, cafeteria and an infirmary are some of the other facilities offered.
There are separate hostels for boys and girls for students from class V onwards. The hostel is provided with computers and internet facility, and allows students to call or receive calls from parents on weekends.
The school is affiliated with CBSE and uses NCERT (National Council for Educational Research and Training) textbooks. Uniquely children don’t carry home school textbooks and notebooks, minimizing the pressure of studies. Students attend a daily supervised self-study period, during which they complete their ‘homework’ and revise the day’s lessons. Students may study at home for a test on the day before it is scheduled. Senior students may have to spend time at home completing school work, but for others, doing academic-related work at home is discouraged.
Students with difficulties in subjects are given the remedial lessons by the teachers at the school.
Extracurricular education
Several clubs and social service activities are offered. Value education classes are held once a week. Students present skits, organize debates or write essays during these classes. Students often go trekking in the scenic areas surrounding the school. Sports activities include basketball, volleyball, football, tennis, squash, cricket, badminton, table tennis and athletics.
