The Tripura government has granted a 2.36-acre plot to the National School of Drama (NSD) for the establishment of a campus in the state, as per officials on Thursday.
This campus is scheduled to be developed in Ranirbazar, located in West Tripura district. An official memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been formalized in this regard.
“Responding to NSD’s request, the state government has allocated a 2.36-acre plot. The MoU between the two parties was signed on Tuesday,” shared Subir Roy, the programme coordinator for NSD’s Agartala center, in an interview with PTI.
He further explained, “Now, we will complete the land mutation process before commencing the construction of a fully-fledged NSD Center in Tripura. Currently, the NSD Center is operating from Nazrul Kalashetra.”
Currently, the Agartala center provides a one-year course in ‘Theatre in Education,’ which is slated to be extended to a two-year program. Roy mentioned that there are currently 20 students enrolled in this course.
