Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized the transformative impact of the new National Education Policy (NEP) and urged states that have not yet adopted it to reconsider their stance. Speaking at the International Literacy Day celebrations, Dhankhar highlighted the policy’s potential to revolutionize education and urged states to reflect on its benefits.
He cautioned against those who undermine India’s institutions and advised redirecting efforts to educate and enlighten those who fail to recognize the country’s progress. Dhankhar called for a united effort to achieve 100% literacy, stressing that education is an enduring asset that no one can take away.
Reflecting on the NEP’s significance, Dhankhar stated that it is designed to harness the full potential of India’s youth, emphasizing the importance of linguistic diversity in education. He noted that the policy not only supports educational advancement but also acknowledges and incorporates the richness of India’s languages.
In his address, Dhankhar shared insights from his experience as Rajya Sabha chairman, where he witnessed the effective use of 22 languages in debates. This diversity, he said, highlights India’s unique linguistic heritage and the need to respect and promote it.
Dhankhar appealed to everyone to take responsibility for improving literacy rates, emphasizing that each individual’s effort to educate at least one person contributes significantly to national development. He described literacy as a powerful tool for personal empowerment and independence, urging a collective commitment to achieving universal literacy.
In conclusion, Dhankhar reiterated the importance of being in “mission mode” with dedication and passion to ensure that 100% literacy is achieved. He expressed confidence that this goal is attainable and encouraged everyone to contribute to making India a more educated and developed nation.
