Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), New Delhi, also known as Delhi Institute of Technology, is an autonomous, state government backed institution affiliated with the University of Delhi. Till 2009 the institution admitted students through Common Entrance Examinations (CEE), thereafter students are admitted through the All Indian Engineering Entrance Examinations (AIEEE). The institute was registered in the name of Delhi Institute of Technology (DIT) on June 12, 1987. It was later renamed as Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology on January 23, 1997 by the then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. NSIT has consistently featured among India’s top 10 engineering colleges in surveys conducted by bodies such as India Today, Outlook, Dataquest-NASSCOM. The institute is renowned for well-paid placements packages with companies such as Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Adobe systems, Amazon.com, Directi, Infosys, Accenture, Yahoo, Tata Technologies, IBM Research Lab, HCL, Ericsson, and so on.
The 145 acre campus is sited at Dwarka, New Delhi amidst verdant surroundings. It hosts separate blocks for academics, library, faculty, offices and staff residence and administrative buildings. The campus also houses facilities for sports such as cricket, football, table tennis, gym, basketball, tennis and volleyball. Other facility offerings include staff club, dispensary, shopping center, kiosks, banks, post office, telephone exchange, and playing fields.
NIST offers undergraduate programme in the following engineering disciplines: B.E - Electronics and Communication Engineering - Computer Engineering - Instrumentation and Controlling Engineering -Bio-Technology NIST offers postgraduate programmes in the following branches: M.Tech - Electronics and Communication Engineering (Signal Processing) - Computer Engineering (Information Systems) -Instrumentation and Control Engineering (Process Control)
Admission for fulltime B.E is through All Indian Engineering Entrance Examinations (AIEEE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. For M.Tech admissions, candidates must have a B.E./B.Tech degree in Electronics & Communication/Computer/Electronics/Electrical Engineering/Instrumentation & Control Engineering from the University of Delhi or equivalent from recognized University/Institution. A candidate for admission to full time course must have qualified GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering).
NSIT has consistently featured among India’s top 10 engineering colleges in surveys conducted by bodies such as India Today, Outlook, Dataquest-NASSCOM. NSIT has also launched Center for Electronic Design and Technology (CEDT), which is fully functional in the campus now.
