Overview

Institute of Technology, Nirma University is a leading institute offering multi disciplinary postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in engineering. The institute was affiliated with Gujarat University till April 2003. Thereafter, it has become a constituent of the Nirma University, Ahmedabad which was founded in 1994 under the aegis of Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF). NERF took off as a result of Dr. Karshanbhai K Patel’s philanthropic pursuits, to provide world class education with focus on professional disciplines of engineering, management and pharmacy.

In 2003, the Gujarat Government conferred the university with ‘Autonomous University’ status and it now boasts six schools of studies under it – Institute of Technology, Institute of Management, Institute of Diploma Studies, Institute of Pharmacy, Institute of Science and Institute of Law.

Campus

The institute along with five other schools of study of Nirma University, occupy over 110 acres of landscaped greenery on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Hig. The campus hosts world class infrastructure comprising auditoriums, seminar rooms, class rooms, computer laboratories, hostels, canteens, etc to facilitate the teaching-learning processes that fascinate and delight students, faculty, corporate visitors, and parents.

The university library is well stocked with over 79,000 books, 19 online databases, 787 print periodicals, more than 7000 online journals, over 376 videos and more than 4700 electronic media resources.

Transportation facility includes a fleet of buses that ply across various parts of the city. With hygienic canteen catering to staff and students alike and facilities to cater to basic medical needs of students and staff, the university boasts a truly self sufficient campus.

Admission

For the B. Tech course candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, with marks as decided by the Government of Gujarat. Candidate must have also qualified the AIEEE.

Achievement

Nirma University was ranked in the 101–151 band among overall in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2020. 

The college has been ranked among the top private engineering colleges in the EW India Engineering Colleges Rankings 2020-21.

It was also ranked fourth by Outlook India (Universities) 2020.

Accommodation

The University houses separate hostel facilities for boys and girls which can be availed by postgraduate students. There are three hostel buildings in all, two for boys and one for girls. The hostels have a total capacity of around 800 students. The hostel rooms are spacious, well-furnished and have sports and other recreational facilities such as cable TV, common room for interaction, etc. All hostel rooms have Internet connectivity round the clock.

A new girls hostel of 1100 plus beds is proposed and it is likely to be operational by June 2022.
