The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to conduct a retest for more than 1,000 CUET-UG candidates on July 19. The NTA released the provisional answer key for CUET-UG 2024 on July 7 and announced the possibility of a retest between July 15 and 19 if grievances raised by students were found valid.
While the retest schedule has been notified, the agency has not specified when the results will be declared, which are already delayed by over two weeks. The delay in CUET-UG results coincides with ongoing controversies surrounding alleged irregularities in competitive exams like NEET and NET.
According to sources within the NTA, grievances such as receiving the wrong question paper, resulting in time loss, prompted the decision for a retest. Approximately 250 of the affected CUET-UG candidates are from Oasis Public School in Hazaribagh, which is also under scrutiny for an alleged NEET-UG question paper leak.
The NTA announced that grievances received up to June 30, 2024, and complaints submitted to [email protected] by July 9 have been reviewed. Based on these findings, the re-examination for affected candidates will take place on July 19, 2024, in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
Originally, CUET-UG results were scheduled for release on June 30 but were postponed due to ongoing investigations into paper leak allegations affecting various exams conducted by the NTA.
The CUET-UG exam, conducted nationwide in a hybrid mode for the first time, faced logistical challenges leading to its cancellation in Delhi a day before the scheduled exam, later rescheduled and conducted successfully.
The NTA initially planned to complete the third edition of CUET-UG within seven days without score normalization, conducting exams in a single shift for all subjects. Over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the exam this year, aimed at admissions to undergraduate courses across 261 universities.
In its 2022 debut, CUET-UG encountered technical issues and required score normalization due to exams conducted in multiple shifts.
