O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has launched India’s first Co-op Bachelor’s Degree programme, offering students a full year of industry experience as part of their undergraduate education. The innovative three-year course was unveiled in Mumbai in the presence of leading figures from academia, industry, and technology.
Offered by the Jindal School of Banking & Finance, the programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and employability in tech-driven sectors such as finance and AI. It features three specialisations: AI & Finance, Finance & Entrepreneurship, and International Accounting & Finance (aligned with the ACCA pathway).
The course follows a unique 4+4+4 model — four months each of online learning, on-campus immersion, and on-the-job training — ensuring that students graduate with practical experience and global exposure. upGrad has been announced as the official technology and learning enablement partner.
Speaking at the launch, Hemant Manuj, Executive Dean of the Jindal School of Banking & Finance, said: “Traditional education models no longer serve the demands of today’s industries. This programme is a systemic intervention to equip students from day one with adaptability, cross-functional knowledge, and real-world skills.”
Industry leaders, including Microsoft AI strategist Murari Ramuka, emphasised the need for integrating AI and experiential learning to prepare graduates for the rapidly evolving job market. The Finance & Entrepreneurship track even allows students to intern within their own startups, while the ACCA-aligned track provides a direct route to global qualifications.
