In a significant development, more than 16,600 primary and upper primary teachers from state-run schools in Uttar Pradesh (UP) were granted transfers to their preferred districts on Monday.
The announcement came after the government received an overwhelming response of 45,914 transfer applications from teachers on the online portal developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
A press statement issued by the government confirmed that the applications underwent a meticulous verification process, taking into consideration the points earned by the teachers. Ultimately, a list of 16,614 names was released, revealing the successful transfers. Among the transferred teachers, 12,267 were female educators, while 4,337 were male. Notably, 1,141 teachers diagnosed with serious ailments or incurable diseases were granted transfers to districts of their choice. Additionally, 1,122 teachers with disabilities and 393 single parents were also included in the transfer process.
According to a government spokesperson, a total of 42,977 transfers have been executed thus far. This number includes transfers that occurred during the 2019-20 academic session, amounting to 26,563, and the current 2023-24 session, which saw the relocation of 16,614 teachers to their desired districts.
To ensure the integrity of the transfer process, the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) rejected unfit applications. The government further affirmed its commitment to conducting thorough document verification for the teachers who have been transferred. It sternly warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any teacher found forging documents for the purpose of transfer. Such individuals would have their transfers revoked, as stated in the press release.
This extensive transfer initiative demonstrates the government’s dedication to accommodate the preferences and needs of teachers within the state education system. By allowing them to work closer to their homes or in districts that suit their circumstances, the government aims to enhance overall teacher satisfaction and facilitate a conducive learning environment for students across Uttar Pradesh.
