Overview

Founded in 1952, Palghat Lions School was promoted by a group of like-minded educationists of Palakkad, Kerala. Later in 1962, the school was taken over by Lions Palghat and was renamed as Lions Nursery and Preparatory School. It is an English medium day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.

The primary objective of the school is to provide quality education where students are able to identify their potential, and enrich their skills.

The school ensures that proper balance is maintained between scholastic as well as co-scholastic areas, thus infusing in them a sense of integrity, leadership, patriotism, love for humanity, and compassion for the under privileged.

Campus

The school campus hosts spacious well ventilated classrooms equipped with modern furniture and state of the art Educomp facilities. It accommodates a well-stocked library featuring books, periodicals, journal, references and newspaper, an activity room and a fully air conditioned auditorium. The school also houses well equipped laboratories for subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology English, home science and two computer laboratories with the latest machines.

The school also boasts a huge playground to cater to the sporting activities of the students.

Academics

Affiliated with CBSE, Palghat Lions School offers schooling from pre-school through class XII. At the primary level, the teaching techniques include Playway method thus laying emphasis on a child’s all round development. At this level, children learn speaking, writing, reading and listening.

At the secondary level, the curriculum focuses on continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) where each term comprises two formative and one summative assessment.

At the senior secondary level, the school offers science, commerce, and humanities streams.

The co-curricular activities include art, music, drawing and painting, home science, instrumental music and abacus. The school also promotes various clubs such as literary, maths, traffic, social science, science, health and environment.

The sporting activities include football, cricket, table tennis, badminton, volley-ball, throw ball, athletics, karate yoga and chess.

Achievement

Palghat Lions School was declared the overall winners of Palakkad district chess team championship 2015 organised by the Chess Association of Palakkad.

Accommodation

Being a day school, Lions Palghat School does not offer hostel facility.
