Established in 2010 by Soniya Donison, a alumna of Montessori Central InternationalCollege, London,the school follows the Montessori teaching method. Children are introduced in a fun and practical way to a integrated curriculum including numeracy, literacy, science, history, geography, music, art, games, dance, languages and social skills.
Each class has two teachers and a helper and the adult to child ratio is 1:6. All the teachers are Montessori-trained.
The campus is fully air-conditioned and all the classrooms are well-ventilated and equipped with age-appropriate Montessori materials. Petals Montessori also provides a library, art room, gymnasium with soft mats, fully-covered outdoor play area, multimedia room, dining hall, medical care, open terrace garden, relaxation room and full time security. The school also offers day care facility.
The school follows the Montessori curriculum. The curriculum focuses on the following areas—
1. Personal, social and emotional development
2. Communication, language and literacy
3. Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
4. Knowledge and understanding of the world
5. Physical development and creative development
Extracurricular activities such as drama, art, music, yoga and cooking are also conducted.
The classes are pre-toddler, toddler, prep, lower kindergarten and upper kindergarten.
Pre-toddler to toddler (18 months to 3 years): In this program, teachers gain the child’s trust by feeding, cuddling, diapering and playing, and create a loving relationship with them. Children learn fine and gross motor skills, as well as language skills. They learn to participate in various real life activities.
Prep to upper kindergarten (3 to 6 years): In this stage, teaching becomes more project-based and children work in small groups and individually with the teachers.
Admission forms are available in the month of November for the following academic year. Forms need to be filled and submitted along with photographs, parent’s photo ID, copy of birth certificate and copy of immunization record.
The admission process is on first come first served basis and admissions are open till the seats are filled.
