Overview

Pondicherry University (PU), Kalapet is a central university established in 1985 by the Government of India through an Act of the Parliament. The university boasts over 400 faculty members and 6100 students from across the country on its rolls. There are over 45,000 students in its 87 affiliated colleges. aThe university has a Directorate of Distance Education offering Master’s Programme in Management to cater to the aspirations of students who are not able to pursue higher education through “on-campus” mode and corporate professionals across the country.

Campus

The university hosts three campuses. The main campus is located at Puducherry and the other two off-campuses at Karaikal and Port Blair. The 800 acre main campus hosts well-furnished, air-conditioned auditorium, bank, book shop, canteen, Wi-Fi-enabled computer centre, day care centre, guest house, gymnasium, health centre, shopping complex, state-of-the-art laboratories, free transport on and off the campus, and excellent sports facilities. The Ananda Rangapillai Library features a collection of more than 2lakh books and 25,084 e-journals, 7,455 e-books, 36 e-databases and 620 e-thesis.
