Overview

Prakash Higher Secondary School, Ahmedabad is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school was founded in 1971 by Late JC Shah, founder trustee, Prakash Group. The school is managed by Prakash Trust, a public educational trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1956.

The school boasts approximately 1400 students from Kindergarten through class XII and 58 faculty members.

Campus

The school campus hosts a well stocked library, spacious and well equipped laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology, mathematics and computer, well structured play area, well equipped auditorium and a seminar hall.

Academics

The school follows the CBSE curriculum and courses of studies are prepared by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) New Delhi. In Kindergarten, children are exposed to English, arithmetic, drawing, rhythm and rhyme, games etc. Children of classes I and II have English, arithmetic, social studies and science, value-education, drawing and games; classes III to V have English, Hindi, mathematics, science, social studies, value-education, drawing, computer, physical-education and co curricular activities. Students of classes VI to X have English, Hindi, Gujarati/Sanskrit, math, physics, chemistry, biology, history and civics, geography, economics, physical-education, computer education, value-education and management/SUPW/C.C.A.

At the senior secondary level, compulsory subjects include English core, general studies, work experience, physical-education and elective subjects (atleast four of them) – economics, history, philosophy, math, chemistry, physics, biology, accountancy, entrepreneurship, business studies and computer science.

General Information

Admission

The school admits children between 3 to 17 years of age for classes KG to XII. Students seeking admission to class I and above must clear an entrance test to qualify for admissions. The admission test includes oral and written assessments. However, admissions are considered on the basis of category of the guardian, previous school, previous result, distance, family background and performance in the admission test.

Children seeking admission in LKG must have completed 3 years by January 1 of the year in which admission is sought. There is no entrance test for Kindergarten.
