President of India presents NSS Award to student of ICFAI University, Tripura

Honourable President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu recently presented the prestigious National Service Scheme (NSS) Award 2021-22 for the state of Tripura to Ali Debnath, a second year MBA student of ICFAI University, Tripura, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the society. 

The glittering award ceremony was hosted on September 29 at Dar-bar Hall of the Rastrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. The prestigious national award carries a cash prize of Rupees One Lakh along with a certificate and a memento. 

Thus far, Ali has planted 1030 saplings, attended over 125 blood donation camps, and personally donated two units of blood. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, she went above and beyond by distributing handmade masks, essential items, and sanitisers etc. She also served as an AAPDA MITRA, a disaster management volunteer, actively participating in rescue operations, cleanliness drives, and heritage protection initiatives. 

Further, she has actively promoted various government programmes such as Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Bima Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. She has worked on digital literacy campaigns and raised awareness on important issues like gender equality, gender sensitivity, adult literacy, and a plastic-free India. 

Congratulating Ali on her remarkable achievements, the vice chancellor of the university, Professor Biplab Haldar  said, “Your dedication to community service reflects the values we uphold at ICFAI University Tripura. We’re proud of your achievements and look forward to your continued inspiration for future generations. Your recognition is a testament to your hard work and our commitment to excellence. Keep shining!”

On receiving the coveted award, Ali said, “Receiving the National-level Best Volunteer Award is an incredible honor. It is  a Honorable President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious National Service Scheme (NSS) Award 2021-22 for the state of Tripura on Miss Ali Debnath, a second year MBA student of ICFAI University, Tripura in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the society. 

Established in 2004, the ICFAI University, Tripura is a multidisciplinary university offering 52 different programmes in Management, Commerce, Law, Engineering, Computer Application, Basic Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Liberal Arts, Education, Special Education and Physical Education disciplines.
