June 8, 2021

Bhopal-based Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the EduSkills Foundation to provide technical training to students and faculty members together with assistance in student placements. RNTU and EduSkills Foundation will aim to train, develop and place students along with the formation of a different academy.

EduSkills is a non-profit organization which enables Industry 4.0 ready digital workforce in India. Their vision is to fill the gap between Academia and Industry by ensuring world class curriculum access to the faculties and students. Their three-pronged engine targets social and business impact by working holistically on Education, Employment and Entrepreneurship.

Talking about the need for skill development in India, Siddharth Chaturvedi, Executive Vice President, AISECT Group said, “We are immensely happy to sign a MoU with a key edtech enterprise with a vision to encourage skilling and upskilling courses for the youth of our country who are all set to start their career. Under this partnership EduSkills Foundation will provide training by experts and enhance the trainees skills to make them job ready.  In collaboration with RNTU, EduSkills Foundation will organize a ‘Train the Trainers’ programme, ‘Train the Students’ programme and offer internships and job opportunities to the students.

This partnership is expected to enhance the university’s efforts to bridge the overall skills gap in higher education and improve employability in India. RNTU was established in 2010 as India’s first skills university where skill credits are an essential part of the course curriculum. Over the years, the University has introduced more than 51 types of skills as electives across all the disciplines. These electives are in addition to normal subjects and core related elective subjects. To make skill delivery effective, these skills are offered through Skill Academies established as autonomous entities under the various departments at RNTU. Many of these skills are aligned with National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF). The university has also established a Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) under the Skill India Mission to empower the youth.
