RV College of Engineering (RVCE) is a private technical co-educational college in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, it is one of the earliest self-financing engineering colleges in the country. The institution is run by Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) a not for profit trust. The trust runs over 25 institutions and RVCE is the flagship institute under the trust. RVCE is today recognised as one of India’s leading technical institution.
Established in 1963 with three engineering branches namely civil, mechanical and electrical, today RVCE offers 12 undergraduate engineering programmes, 16 master degree programmes and doctoral studies. Located 13 km from the heart of Bengaluru City – the Silicon Valley of India, on Mysore Road, the sprawling campus is spread over an area of 56 acres set in sylvan surroundings. The college is rated one amongst the top ten self-financing engineering institutions in the country. Current annual student intake for undergraduate programmes & postgraduate programmes in Engineering is in excess of 1200.
RVCE campus is spread across 56 acres amidst verdant surroundings, offering an environment conducive to learning. The college library features a collection of 93017 books and 3445 journals. The college canteen caters to 100 students and staff. RVCE campus boasts broadband connectivity of eight mbps and four mbps speed and the browsing center stays open from 9am to 12 in the midnight for students’ use.
The college also provides transport facilities for its students and staff. The on-campus banking facility is provide by ING-Vysya Bank Which caters to the need of 4000 students and staff. The campus also houses a health center which is open to students and staff from 9am to 7pm and sports facilities for cricket, football, hockey, volley ball, basket ball, badminton, shuttle badminton, table tennis, gymnasium, indoor games and track events.

SportsStudents are admitted to undergraduate courses on basis of their performance in either Karnataka Common Entrance Test or in the COMED-K test. Students are also admitted through a management quota, which does not place merit requirements. There is a lateral entry scheme in place, by which students holding diploma degrees can enter directly to the second year of study in engineering. Students, upon graduating, receive a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Students are admitted to postgraduate courses on basis of their GATE test scores, as well as on their Post Graduate Karnataka CET scores.

RVCE has been recognised as a centre for excellence by the Union Government of India. The department of Mechanical engineering of RVCE is the state’s first degree programme in a private institution to be accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.
