RV University has launched a new-age School of Economics and Finance for bright students who aspire to meet dynamic demands of the industry. It has appointed Professor Dwarika Uniyal, with over 20 years of experience in the academia and industry, as the founding dean.
According to the university’s press release the school offers a balanced mix of three undergraduate, two postgraduate and a PhD programme. In the current year, it will offer BA (Hons.), (Economics), BCom (Hons.) and BBA (Hons.), besides a full-time and part-time PhD programme. In 2022, it will start MA (Economics) and MBA programmes.
The curriculum has been carefully designed anticipating the fast-evolving needs of the industry. Students of BBA (Hons.) will specialize in entrepreneurship, and finance with career tracks in fintech, value investing, banking and insurance. MBA students will have choices to specialize in finance with career tracks in equity research, investment banking, fintech and corporate finance.
Additional electives from the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the School of Design contribute to make this programme a well-rounded one, thanks to multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approach. The School proposes to go in for add-on certifications from international associations and industry/trade bodies.
The press release further states about the school having an excellent faculty with a global exposure, possessing degrees from prestigious institutions like IITs, IIMs, ISEC and Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. The School’s Board of Advisors consists of eminent leaders from Institutions of Excellence in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia. It has created the Industry Advisory Council to build robust long-term relationships with industry.
Welcoming the establishment of this School of Economics and Finance, Professor Y.S.R. Murthy, Vice Chancellor, RV University said, “The aim of RV University is to offer truly differentiated and relevant programmes to our students, which will fast-track their careers. All programmes and Schools have been carefully planned to not only keep pace but to stay ahead of the requirements of the industry. We are excited to establish the School of Economics and Finance which we believe has vast potential to emerge as the flagship School in RV University soon”.
