Sharda University emerges as the champion of Jabong Turf War Season II

Greater Noida based Sharda University has emerged as the champion of the Jabong Turf War Season II, picking up the Jabong Turf War trophy and a cash prize of INR 25,000. The Sharda University team beat Greater Noida Institute of Technology by ten goals to zero in the finals. More than 15 colleges from Delhi NCR participated in the 5×5 campus football tournament held at GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management on January 27 & 28. Anupam Vishwarma from Sharda University bagged the Player of the Tournament Award and received a cash prize of INR 10000.
Rahul Taneja, chief business officer of India’s leading online fashion retailer, Jabong, said, “We are extremely delighted to welcome all the guests and celebrities to the second edition of Jabong turf war. The grit and determination displayed by the participating teams was truly amazing to watch. The competitiveness showcased by the players only reinforces our belief of promoting such events to increase the awareness for sports in the country. Jabong Turf now goes to Mumbai next month and I am eager to witness what the teams there have to offer”.

The event was hosted by MTV VJ Clince Varghese. Adding to the glitz along with British film actress, singer, model, TV presenter and former MTV VJ Sophie Choudry were celebrities such as former contestants of the hit reality TV Shows MTV Roadies and Splitsvilla, Martina Thariyan and Shreeradhe Khanduja and Benafsha.

The event also featured a fashion show sponsored by global premium apparel and denim brand GAS which provided the participants a chance to win GAS jeans and other prizes every hour engaged the audience through emcee games and quizzes. The two day tournament captivated the audience with some exceptional cultural performances including rock band Swarrveda and award-winning DJ Varun Dayal.
