Sharda University makes its mark at National Seminar on Plastic Waste Free India

In a remarkable display of knowledge and talent, students of Sharda University won competitions based on Constitution and Sustainability at the National Seminar on Plastic Waste Free India held on January 29. The day long seminar organised by Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Manch, in association with Manyavar Kanshiram Govt. Degree College, Ghaziabad, witnessed an overwhelming participation from students of Biotechnology (SET), Sharda University, Greater Noida. They won first, second and third prize in Technical Session, Oral Presentation and first prize in Poster Making Competition.

Ankit Khugshal bagged the first prize, Akshay Kr. Arya, Ankit Kumar, Rameez J. Khan, Rajat Kr. Jha, Aparna Srivastava and Hamza Nizamuddin stood second, followed by Ankita Singh at the third position. Sovik Chaudhary, Shraddha Sahu, Nancy Gupta and Shubham Srivastava won first prize at the Poster Making Competition. Chairperson Vinod Sharma (national president of Deen Dayal Smiriti Manch) lauded the performance of students.

The event was coordinated by esteemed leader Professor Parma Nand (dean, School of Engineering and Technology, Sharda University), Dr. Pankaj Taneja (associate professor) and Dr. Saurabh Kumar Jha (assistant professor), Department of Biotechnology (SET), Sharda University.

Also, to commemorate the birth centenary celebrations of Nani Palkhivala, a quiz on Constitution Law was held at Taj Vivanta, New Delhi on Sunday, February 3. The quiz witnessed the participation of teams from 75 leading law colleges in India. Each team comprised of two students enrolled in five or three years law degree curriculum in the institution. The quiz was conducted into two parts. Part I comprised of a written test of 100 questions to be answered in 90 minutes. Incorrect answers entailed negative marks. Six shortlisted winning teams were promoted to Part II. Part II comprised of an oral quiz and was conducted by renowned quizmaster Gopal Shankar Narayanan.

Three teams with the highest score received amount cash prizes while the total prize money added up to Rs 3.3 lakh. Each participant was issued a certificate and books on/by Nani Palkhivala worth INR 1000.

Rishi Rathi of BA LLB 5th Year School of Law, Sharda University won cash prize of Rs 40,000 in the prestigious Nani Palmhiwala Constitutional Quiz Competition. Teams from Sharda University, Delhi University and RG National Law University, Patiala were declared winners of this all India competition. Justice Dipak Misra gave away the awards to the winners in a glittering ceremony.

A steering committee headed by former Chief Justice of India MN Venkatachaliah (chairman), TN Chaturvedi, former governor and Rajya Sabha member as (working chairman) and including Justices Dipak Misra and Sujata Manohar, Muralidhar C Bhandare, Soli J Sorabjee, Fali S Nariman, Prof. Upendra Baxi, Arvind P Datar, Iqbal Chagla, PH Parekh and director IIPA, was set up to plan and oversee all the events, with Major General Nilendra Kumar (Retd.).
