SKV’s comprehensive and impactful environmental initiatives were selected after a rigorous evaluation process, which included a virtual presentation in October 2024 and an onsite project verification in December 2024. The school’s efforts in air, water, and safety were especially lauded.

Some of the key projects that contributed to this accolade include:

Project SANKALP: Launched in 2013, this initiative involved installing an indigenous machine to produce low-cost sanitary napkins. Students manage production and awareness campaigns, while also supporting women’s employment in nearby villages.

Project SANCHAY: A green waste management initiative where students collect dry leaves from the campus and convert them into organic compost.

SAHAJ-SANCHAY: Focused on converting kitchen waste into rich compost, promoting the principle of “waste to wealth.”

Organic Farming: Students cultivate a variety of vegetables and herbs, learning sustainable farming practices that honour the Earth.

SANKALPANA & PERMACULTURE: These programmes integrate eco-education, water harvesting, waste management, and ecological restoration, blending theory with hands-on sustainability practices.

BUZZ-BEE: Inspired by a beekeeping workshop, students established two beekeeping units, celebrating and protecting nature’s essential pollinators.

Rainwater Harvesting: Students developed a rainwater harvesting system to conserve water and reduce dependence on municipal supplies.

Mission Life Plantation Campaign: Students planted Bamboo and Ashoka saplings and committed to nurturing them, embodying the spirit of green stewardship.

As part of the award, SKV received a cash prize of ₹50,000, a Smriti Chinha, and a Certificate of Excellence. Representing the school at the award ceremony were principal Nishi Misra, initiative coordinator Geeta Jadon, and students Avni Jain, Agamya Singh, Nirvi Harinkhere, Manya Kothari, and Aganya Singh.

This recognition marks a milestone in SKV’s journey towards environmental excellence and reflects the school’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
