Sophia High School, Bengaluru is a Catholic institution founded in 1949 by Mother Anderson of the Religious Order of the Sacred Heart. The school is placed under the patronage of Mary Mother of Jesus and follows the motto “truth and universal love”

Sophia’s Opportunity School branch educates specially abled children and also undertakes social action outreach programs, such as working with street children’s home in Chamrajpet, interaction with women inmates of Bengaluru’s Central Jail, interaction with students of rural schools around Bengaluru and visits to aged and orphan homes.

Campus

Sprawling over 10 acres, the Sophia High School, Bengaluru campus hosts five main buildings which house the preprimary, primary, middle, high school and ISC classrooms and the school auditorium.

The school offers labs for physics, biology and chemistry, a well stocked library with over 1000 volumes, a canteen and RO drinking water facility. The campus also hosts a basketball court, a throwball court and a huge playground.

Academics

Sophia High School, Bengaluru prepares students for the class X ICSE examinations and the class XII, ISC examinations. The medium of instruction is English and Kannada and Hindi are taught as second languages.

Extracurricular: The school encourages its students to participate in cultural, literary and sports activities. Sophia High School currently has Bengaluru’s best girls’ basketball team and the best throwball team. Sports such as badminton, tennis, table tennis, swimming and athletics are also promoted.

Achievement

Sophia has Bengaluru’s best girls’ basketball team. It also has what is widely considered to be the best throwball team in Bengaluru which has been the defending champions in five tournaments.
