St. Andrew's College, Mumbai was founded on July 9, 1983 by the Archbishop of Bombay Simon Pimenta (1978–1996) with 194 students. The college today has more than 4,000 students. It is a Christian Roman Catholic institution and offers study programmes at the junior (class XI-XII) and undergraduate college levels.
Sited in the Mumbai suburb of Bandra, the college offers contemporary academic facilities. The library has a collection of 30,000 books, 22 magazines, 50 periodicals, 6 national newspapers, 1400 articles, 306 CD’s/DVDs, 15 maps and 3 databases. The library also has internet and photocopy facilities. The college has laboratories for Physics, Biology and Chemistry, and an air-conditioned Computer Laboratory. The classrooms are well ventilated with facilities for overhead and LCD displays. The campus also has a gym and canteen.

Admissions are granted according to the rules and regulations of the government and the Mumbai University. Being a Catholic Christian minority college, 50% of the seats are reserved for Catholics.
The college was accredited with Grade A by the NAAC. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Fraser Valley, Canada on 6 December 2007 for student and teacher exchange programmes.
