St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Bengaluru is one of the oldest colleges in the state of Karnataka Established in 1882, it has been conferred as a “College of Excellence” by the University Grants Commission UGC India. The college is awarded a rating of A++ (3.79/4), in the 4th cycle of re-accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2017.
Located in the heart of the city (near Richmond Circle, Bengaluru), the college offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research education to over 5,500 students mentored by 300 staff.
Sited on a compact 10-acre campus in the heart of the garden city, SJC has an aggregate enrollment of 2,500 including 300 postgraduate students instructed by 150 faculty members of whom 60 percent are Ph Ds and 80 percent M. Phil degree holders.
To deliver holistic well-rounded education, St. Josephs offers an impressive infrastructure. Its 29 departments are housed in four spacious buildings which host 60 well ventilated classrooms, 32 student and six research laboratories. In addition the college houses a multi-level fully-wired seminar hall, two museums, three audio-visual rooms equipped with state-of-the-art LCD projectors and acoustics, an observatory and two chapels.
The college’s three libraries house a collection of over 78,000 volumes and 400 journal subscriptions and several CD-ROMs. To encourage extra-curricular education the college has promoted 21 associations encompassing physical science, social science, economics and microbiology clubs. There is also a strong focus on sports with facilities for almost all individual and team games.
The college has a students’ academic council, council of class representatives and a cultural committee.

(For UG courses) PUC certificates issued by the Board of Pre-University Education, Govt. of Karnataka or equivalent from other authorized boards such as CBSE/ISE. All those who have passed PUC with an overall minimum percentage of 50, are eligible to apply for the course. Eligibility criterion for PG course is mentioned in the application form. The application form should be carefully filled up and registered personally at the college office
The placement cell of the college functions under Dr. Melwin Colaco the registrar of the college. He is also the coordinator of the cell. The cell provides information to students on placements, organizes placements at the end of their academic courses and provides all kinds of information the recruiters need. Students are provided training in soft-skills in view of job opportunities in the first year by a programme in human resource development. Aptitude testing facilities have been provided for the passing out students. The cell has a large collection of information on careers, higher studies both within and outside the country. All students with a first class are normally recruited. The pay scale offered by various companies ranged from 1.8 lakhs-6.5 lakhs per annum.
