Overview

Founded in 2012, Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, Nagapattinam is the 20th university in Tamil Nadu. It was promoted by the state government under the leadership ofhonourable chief minister SelviJJayalalitha through Tamli Nadu Fisheries ActNo. 21. The Act paved way for developing the university as a locally relevant institution with a global vision.

Campus

The campus hosts an administrative block, a computer laboratory, ARIS cell, auditorium, AV hall, and examination hall. The university’s well-stocked library features 15,000 books, CDs, ROMS and journals. It also offers an educational video hall where cassettes on fisheries technologies and resources are screened for the benefit of students and participants of training programmes. The 5.29 acre main campus of FC & RI hosts fish farms, reservoir, fresh water prawn hatchery, museum, catfish farm and hatchery, wet laboratory, ornamental fish rearing facility, feed preparation unit, water quality laboratory, fishery biology laboratory, and fish quality assurance laboratory.

Admission

Eligibility for admission to B.F.Sc, B.E. and degree courses 1. Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu State alone are eligible to apply 2. Candidate should have passedin the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) / CBSE / any other examination recognised as equivalent The maximum number of attempts made in passing the qualifying examination is limited to three for SC/SCA/ST candidates and two for other candidates. The improvement marks in HSC or equivalent examination of any year will not be considered. Candidates applying for the course should not have completed the age mentioned below as on July 1 of the year in which admission is sought.
