Due to the heavy rainfall in several districts of Tamil Nadu, schools in the affected areas have been shut down as a precautionary measure. The heavy downpour has resulted in waterlogging, flooding, and disruption of normal life of people in several districts. The decision was taken by the District Collector of Tiruvallur to close schools in Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu district. Schools in vellor and Ranipet will also remain closed. It was taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the students. The excessive rainfall has made commuting to schools difficult and there are concerns about the risks involved in such situations.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Tamil Nadu is expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning and this is expected to continue for the next 5 days. The closure of schools will remain in effect until the situation improves and is considered safe for students. The education department is closely monitoring the weather and is constantly in contact with the district authorities to decide on the reopening of Schools.
This closing of schools is a very common practice in Tamil Nadu to avoid any inconvenience to students. The government of Tamil Nadu is committed to prioritize the safety and security of students during such weather conditions.
