A 14-year-old girl died by suicide at a tribal hamlet in Aarey Colony, Mumbai on Monday after parents denied permission to play a game on the mobile phone.
The Aarey Colony Police are now recording her parents’ statement in the incident.
According to the police, this incident occurred around 3.45pm at Unit no. 22 inside Aarey Colony.
The girl was found hanging in the house by her family shortly after the altercation with parents over permission to play games online. The family found her unconscious.
The Aarey police were summoned and she was rushed to the Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Hospital at Jogeshwari.
Doctors pronounced her dead before admission. Later, police spoke to her parents who said that the girl used to play mobilephone games obsessively.
On the fateful day, her parents refused to give her the phone. Enraged by this, she locked herself in the room. Later her parents discovered that she had used her dupatta to hang herself.
Her body was sent to Siddharth Hospital’s postmortem centre for an autopsy examination. Aarey Colony Police have recorded an accidental death case.
