Yana Lewis, when she stepped in India in 1998 and saw and met the children in slums, she felt that it is important to take dance to the less privileged to open up the world of imagination and visual stimulation for them. In 2002, Yana Lewis founded The Yana Lewis Dance Company in India, specializing in Ballet and Jazz. Annually, she stages and choreographs large scale dance productions featuring her company and academy.
Programs/courses: The Lewis Foundation of Classical Ballet conducts classes for children, teens, adults and professional dancers in Bangalore. The classes are designed carefully for children which gives them opportunity to develop team work skills, critical thinking and analytical skills, organization and problem solving skills. The classes for children follows a typical calendar year: 1st term: February to May 2nd term: June to September 3rd term: October to January Note: To accommodate different summer holiday calendars, students are allowed to take 4 weeks off either in 1st term or 2nd term. Fees are collected before the start of the term. If a class is cancelled the students will be informed in advance through telephones, letters and text message. Personal and contact details will be collected at the time of registration. Fees are non-refundable and registration fee is not charged.
