Trivandrum Medical College (TMC) was the first medical school in the southern state of Kerala, which took off in 1951. The college campus sprawls over 139 acres amidst a verdant backdrop. The college was inaugurated by the then prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The college was initially affiliated with the University of Kerala, but eventually shifted its affiliation to the newly formed Kerala University of Health and Allied Sciences. It is the oldest and the most prestigious medical college of Kerala. TMC has been consistently ranked among the top thirty medical colleges in India by leading education surveys conducted over the past few years.
