Udaipur: Two students killed by falling iron pole during Janmashtami celebrations

Two female students lost their lives and three others sustained injuries on Wednesday when an iron pole collapsed on them during Janmashtami celebrations at a school in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred in the morning at the Government Higher Secondary School in Jogi Talab, within the Girwa Panchayat Samiti under the jurisdiction of the Govardhan Vilas police station, as reported by Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajat Vishnoi.

Vishnoi stated that the students had gathered for the “Matki Phod” program as part of the Janmashtami festival. The injured students received medical attention at Gitanjali Hospital, where two girls were tragically declared deceased.

The DSP identified the deceased students as Narayani, a seventh-grader, and Radha, an eighth-grader. The three injured girls are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

As of now, no FIR (First Information Report) has been filed in this case. Vishnoi mentioned that if complaints are lodged by the families, a case will be registered. Efforts are being made to console the relatives of the deceased students.
