The inauguration of the Skill India Centre (SIC) in Angul by the Hon’ble Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, marks a significant stride towards empowering the Yuva Peedhi with contemporary skills for both domestic and global employment opportunities. Shri Pradhan, acknowledging the initiative as a commendable step by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, emphasized the commitment to expanding skill development and educational infrastructure, particularly benefitting underprivileged sections and enhancing livelihoods.
The Skill India Centre in Angul is envisioned to benefit around 1000 youths annually, contributing to personal growth and national economic development. Positioned as a futuristic hub, the centre aims to equip the youth with high-demand skills, catalyzing entrepreneurship and large-scale skill development. Aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, the centre reflects a commitment to a flexible education system, preparing students for real-world challenges.
The centre’s diverse courses, such as Story Board Artist, Graphic Designer, and IT Helpdesk Assistant, integrate academic knowledge with hands-on experience. This approach, along with engagement with industry experts, facilitates curricula evolution and preserves traditional crafts while generating employment opportunities.
Previous launches in Deogarh, Sambalpur, and Dhenkanal have been well-received, establishing the state as a hub for futuristic skills. The dual approach of specialized training programs and a dedicated Centre Manager by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) ensures high-quality education aligned with industry standards. Additionally, Sector Skill Councils contribute sector-specific expertise, identify skill gaps, and collaborate with industry partners to create a skilled workforce. The initiative emphasizes inclusivity, practical learning, and overall enhancement of the learning process, reinforcing confidence among the youth pursuing lucrative career opportunities.
