Overview

Founded in 1948, the University of Rajasthan (UoR), Jaipur is a public state university recognised by the University Grants Commission India (UGC) and Association of Indian Universities. Previously known as University of Rajputana, in 1956 it was renamed as University of Rajasthan. UoR is one of the oldest universities in the Indian state of Rajasthan. UoR aims to pursue high quality research pertaining to economy, social development, languages, arts, culture, economy, environment and preparing students for careers in science, social science, humanities, commerce, management, fine arts and sports and engineering technology.

Campus

The campus hosts a central library which features more than 4.7 lac books and bound periodicals and also subscribes to around 150 current journals and popular magazines related to various subjects. In addition, about 7000 e-journals are available for online access under UGC-INFONET E-Journals consortium. The library offers the following services in addition to consultation and lending out books: Reference services Current awareness services Reprographic services E-journals online accessibility Internet and e-mail facility CDROM data base search services The university campus houses Allopathic, Ayurvedic, and Homeopathic dispensaries. Students get medicines free of cost. The university organises medical health check-up camps - both routine and specialised - from time to time.

General Information

Admission

UoR offers post-graduate, under-graduate, 5-year integrated courses, diploma and post diploma programmes, Ph.D. and M.Phil. programmes. For post-graduate programme The candidate should submit hard copy of the application form for entrance test duly filled in all respects, at any of the following desks: (i) Director, PG School of Humanities (ii) Director, PG School of Social Science (iii)Director,PG School of Commerce Candidates are required to submit self attested copies of documents/certificates in support of minimum academic eligibility along-with the hard copy of application form. Original certificates / documents should be submitted only at the time of counselling in the concerned department of the university for which a separate notification will be issued after the declaration of UNIVERSITY OF RAJASTHAN ADMISSION TEST FOR PG (URATPG) result. Achievement categories Eligibility for admission under the categories of Sports, N.C.C., N.S.S./ Bharat Scouts and Guides and Cultural and Literary Activities should be based on outstanding performance displayed during the 3 year tenure of B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./B.B.A./B.C.A (General Course, 10+2+3 pattern) or a programme recognised as equivalent there of subject to the conditions laid down in the relevant statutes. Achievement

As one of the oldest universities in the state of Rajasthan, UoR has made a significant contribution in the field of higher education and research.

Accommodation

UoR provides well-furnished separate hostels for boys and girls. The university at present offers 18 hostels, of which 13 are in housed within the main campus while the rest are located in constituent colleges.
