Uttar Pradesh (UP) Board, the governing body responsible for overseeing education in the state, has recently granted recognition to a total of 587 private schools. This significant move comes as part of the government’s efforts to improve the quality and accessibility of education for students across the state.
The recognition process was carried out in two phases, with 381 schools receiving recognition in the first phase, and 206 schools being recognized in the second phase. While some schools were granted direct recognition for classes 6 to 12, others were acknowledged for additional classes and subjects, thereby expanding their educational offerings.
Among the cities in Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj stands out with the highest number of recognized schools, boasting a total of 168 institutions. Following closely behind is Meerut, with 134 recognized schools, Varanasi with 106, Gorakhpur with 37, and the Bareilly regional office acknowledging 92 schools.
As of 2023, the UP Board oversees a comprehensive educational network, encompassing 2,355 government schools, 4,509 non-government aided schools, and 20,737 unaided schools.
The granting of recognition to these private schools not only brings them under the regulatory framework of the UP Board but also validates their adherence to the prescribed standards and guidelines.
With the addition of these newly recognized schools, the UP Board aims to further expand the reach of quality education throughout the state. By providing more students with access to accredited schools, the government seeks to empower the youth of Uttar Pradesh and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.
