UP school principal suspended for making students carry heavy sacks of grains

A video clip of students ferrying heavy sacks of foodgrain on a handcart to the school became viral recently following which people expressed their anger on social media. The incident took place in Chanwari village in Uttar Pradesh last Friday.

District Magistrate, Hari Pratap Shahi had ordered the inquiry after the clip surfaced on the internet. The UP government suspended Alok Kumar Yadav, Principal of Higher Primary School in Chanwari village on charge of maligning the education department’s image and making children ferry heavy sacks, a senior officer said. Regarding the matter, the Principal had earlier said, “We took the help of students because the person who operates the cart was not available on that particular day.”
