Career Launcher hosts first-of-its kind workshop on AI & ML

February 20, 2019

New Delhi headquartered Career Launcher, India’s leading test-prep organisation and a division of CL Educate Ltd, hosted a first-of-its kind workshop on the topic “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning redefining the Education scenario in India” on February 9. The event was specially designed for influential thought leaders, school principals and subject teachers who are important stakeholders in the country’s higher education ecosystem.

The workshop featured a training programme for higher education institutions conducted by industry practitioners of AI & MI.

Speaking on the occasion, Satya Narayanan R, chairman and executive director of CL Educate said, “It is imperative that education authorities of our country more than nudge the upcoming generation towards cutting-edge futuristic technology domains – AI-ML, Data Sciences, Artificial Neural Network and likewise. Their efforts, in doing so, will give India an unbeatable advantage and a significant leverage of the demographic dividend India currently enjoys. To that end, we are delighted to organise this workshop, which will support our educational system move forward with a renewed vigour and a serious sense of purpose.”

The programme was graced by renowned schools like St. Columbus, St. Froebel, Shiv Nadar, Tagore International, GD Goenka, Delhi Public School, Manav Rachna International and Bluebells to name a few.

Comments Sujit Bhattacharyya, chief innovation officer at CL Educate and one of the panel members conducting the workshop, “My personal journey of learning about AI and ML started a couple of years back. That was the time when, almost with unfailing regularity, I would be called into our conference room to meet a hot new ed-tech who had an AI driven product to offer. ML today has become far more accessible and easier to learn. I am convinced that data science is not the preserve of the PhDs from Stanford alone.  Our aim through this conference would be to demystify ML at an elemental level and start imagining solutions with a completely new perspective.”

Sharing her feedback on the workshop, Himani Jain – examination incharge, St. Columbas School said, “We had a very inspiring, interactive and to the context two hours session today, focusing on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. What I felt after attending this workshop is that we as educators need to own AI and ML in our educational space. This would help us give full justice to the young generations under our care.”

Sharing her views, Dr. Ragini Kaul, principal St. Froebel, said, “Today’s programme was an initiative towards empowering leaders, who are heads of affairs and held responsible to give back to the society what they receive. The speakers of today’s session discussed issues like ML and AI because we know that they are gradually taking over the curriculums in schools as there is no way out. I wish Career Launcher engages themselves in more such programs and gather all the like-minded people and collaborate with them so that we are not depriving our students of the best.”

With CBSE planning to introduce Artificial Intelligence as part of the school curriculum from Class 8 onwards, this initiative will go a long way in helping all the stakeholders in education – students, schools, boards and parents – come up to speed with the changing times.

Incepted in 1996, New Delhi headquartered CL Educate Ltd is a well-diversified and technology-enabled provider of education products, services, content, and infrastructure with presence across the education value-chain. For more details, please visit http://www.cleducate.com/.
