Whistling Woods International’s MasterclassMarathon empowers future media professionals with insights from industry experts

The 5th Edition of MasterclassMarathon, hosted by Whistling Woods International’s (WWI) School of Media & Communication (SMC), successfully concluded after four days of engaging sessions featuring distinguished media experts. Each session provided valuable insights into various areas of the media & entertainment (M&E) industry, including branding, radio, sports journalism, and more, serving as a platform for students to learn directly from industry professionals.

The Media & Communication MasterclassMarathon commenced with an insightful session on the transformative power of branding by Creative Brand Consultant, Tista Sen. She emphasized branding’s ability to create social impact and adapt to changing times, underlining the importance of rationality in communication and customer-focused marketing.

The second day featured Preeti Nihalani, COO of Mirchi Entertainment Network (India) Limited, who discussed the dynamic nature of radio and its evolution in the media landscape. Nihalani highlighted the need for adopting new technologies, nurturing creativity, and the abundance of opportunities for aspiring media enthusiasts in radio and digital audio streaming.

Day three explored sports journalism with renowned Sportswriter and Journalist, Ayaz Memon, who shared insights from his extensive experience covering major sporting events. Memon emphasized the importance of integrity, passion, and sportsmanship, underscoring the significance of fair play in both sports and life.

The final day featured Namrata Parekh, Co-founder of Meraki Sport & Entertainment & CEO of Emami East Bengal Football Club, who provided a detailed overview of the sports business in India. Parekh discussed the connection between advertising and sports, as well as the potential for growth in women’s sports, encouraging students to network early and advocate for inclusivity in the industry.

Rahul Puri, Director of Academics at WWI, highlighted the event’s significance in inspiring a culture of innovation and inclusivity among future media professionals. The MasterclassMarathon series equipped students with invaluable knowledge, preparing them for the dynamic media & entertainment landscape.
