1st Edition of International Steam Premier league (ISPL) held in Mumbai

It was a battle of wits and skills in the highly competitive arena in an engaging and highly competitive arena at the EuroSchool ICSE in Navi Mumbai. The first edition of the International STEAM Premier League –MakeXbrought by Makebotleading STEAM EDUTAINMENT company, in India saw about 150+ teams from 60+ schools all across in India sweating it out. In a well-poised healthy competitive environment, over 150+ teams from across 60+ schools across India participated in India’s first STEAM-based championship and 9 teams have qualified to represent India in World Championship which is going to held in Guangzhou, China. This is the first time any Indian team would participate in China and vie for World Championships among 60 countries in the International arena.

A loud cheer went through the crowd as the National winners made their way to the central podium to receive their respective trophies. With beaming faces, they had unanimously this to say – “ISPL has been a great experience to us. Here we learned the importance of innovation, creativity and now combined with victory. Of significance nevertheless was that even failures can be and with failures, we stand up and put up the best efforts once again. Robots built through STEAM education helps us not only to understand the environment & the future of the world better but also make us future ready. We are proud to represent India in the International Championships and are confident that we would make India shine bright on the global horizon.”

The ISPL India teams will be going for MakeX World Championship in China, a competition which is one of the biggest and globally the most acclaimed is hosted by 60 countries this year with over 300 teams of different nationalities rising to the top making appearances in the global finals in China. Speaking on this event Chief Guest – Prof. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, Member – Central Advisory Board (Ministry of Labour& Employment, Govt. of India) & Former Member, National Education Policy Committee (Government of India)said “competitions like these where multiple team comes together and work towards solving a common problem with innovative approach, allows students to play a more active role in their own learning process while giving them the opportunity to develop technical skills that will be needed in their future careers. It helps students build self – confidence, digital literacy skills.In an environment full of digitalization, fun and joy, the digital education and competition allows students to learn various aspects of life and empower them to become responsible global citizens.”

Speaking on the significance of STEAM education and the participation of Indian students in an international Robotics platform, Amit Verma, CEO & Director, MakeBot, said “As a futuristic education technology and STEAM edutainment provider, we believe in offering new-age experiential learning for students in the 21st century. ISPL National Championship- MakeX, saw students from Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Mysore, Jaipur, Pune, Raipur, Bhopal, Panjim, Ajmer and even Khatima, Uttarakhand. Through the competition, students devise creative solutions to difficult problems, work as a team, learn sportsmanship, communicate effectively and build leadership skills. The finals for World Championships are scheduled to be held in China, Guangzhou on 29th November, 2019 at Asian Games Town Gymnasium.MakeX World Championship competition focuses on themes that promote innovative thinking and problem-solving capacities of students while helping them to drive the creative imagination for the same. The theme for MakeX 2019 is “City Lights” and it is aimed at challenging young people to solve real-world problems that we may face every day, including environmental pollution, food safety, recycling, viral infection and more, by applying STEAM concepts to Robotics.
