Overview

Adarsh Shiksha Niketan (ASN) Senior Secondary School, located at Mayur Vihar in New Delhi is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school was established in 1975 by K L Luthra and is managed by Sanatan Dharm Adarsh Shiksha Sansthan, a government registered educational society. ASN Senior Secondary School offers education from nursery through class XII. The school follows the motto “Faith and Follow, Act and Achieve, Serve and Smile.”

Campus

The school campus hosts an auditorium, open air theatre, indoor and outdoor stadium, five well-equipped computer labs, physics lab, biology lab, chemistry lab, home science lab, math lab, science park, well-stocked library, medical infirmary and canteen.

The school houses spacious classrooms and big activity halls equipped with modern gadgets, a Saraswati Mandir and gymnasium. The nursery wing houses a separate resource centre equipped with multi-media and audio-visual equipments such as LCD, OHP, VCD and the latest teaching aids. The school also hosts playgrounds with facilities for sports such as lawn tennis, badminton, cricket, basket ball, and squash.

Academics

For the nursery children, emphasis is on fun learning. Students are given activities like drawing, coloring and puzzles. Poems and stories are dramatized using expressive actions with a focus on communication skills. Children are also taken for nature walks and educational trips.

From pre-primary to primary level, an activity-oriented approach is adopted. The curriculum is child-centered and encourages creativity and language skills. Reading habits and public speaking skills are inculcated through class libraries and role play. Computer technology aids are used to supplement classroom teaching. Field trips and excursions are held to make learning stress free.

In the middle school, curriculum is devised according to the CCE pattern. Emphasis is placed on acquiring in-depth conceptual knowledge and improving communicative skills through group discussions, public speaking and debates. Team spirit is encouraged through projects and research work in the science lab, along with field trips and workshops.

At the senior secondary level, the school strictly follows the CBSE curriculum. Science, commerce and humanities are the academic streams offered at +2 level. A choice of various combinations of subjects is offered. Students are given complete access to the library, computer and other labs for study and research requirements. Students are taken on field trips to industrial units and places of scientific and historical interests frequently.

Extracurriculars

The school promotes many clubs including robotics, heritage, sports, memory, health, dramatics, literary, and swimming. Students have been taken to the Kennedy Space Centre for an 11-day educational program.

Sports activities at the school include volleyball, tennis, basketball, football, badminton, table tennis, skating, judo and taekwondo. The school also hosts inter school competitions, the Delhi State Inter-School Badminton Tournament and Science Meet every year.

Admission

Children aged 3 years are eligible for nursery admissions.

Admission to Economically Weaker Section and disadvantaged groups shall be given on the basis of neighborhood/distance criteria devised by the High Court.

Registration for admission takes place in the month of January every year.

Admission to class XI is based on merit.

ASN Senior Secondary School is an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution and has been honoured with the International School Award 2013-2016 by the British Council.

The school has earned international awards in the field of Judo and Taekwondo and retained the badminton championships for the past four years.
