Overview

St. Thomas School, Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur, is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. St. Thomas School was established in 1986 by Reverend Father Benedict Pereira with just four rooms, two teachers and a few students on the roll. Since then, the school has grown in leaps and bounds to become one of the top schools in Kanpur. The school is managed by the St. Thomas Education Society, Allahabad.

The aim of the school is to impart to its pupils a sound, moral, emotional, intellectual, physical and social education. It is committed to integral education of all pupils according to Christian principles to enable them to be worthy citizens of our country.

Campus

The school campus comprises a well stocked library, labs for math, physics, biology and chemistry. The classrooms are big, spacious and airy; the school also hosts rooms for music, dance and art and a well structured play area.

Academics

St Thomas School follows the CISCE curriculum; value education classes are an integral part of the school curriculum and equal importance is given not only to academic but also spiritual development. The school offers emotional education as well, making every student emotionally strong. Personal guidance and counseling is provided to students and individual case studies are taken up to help the students overcome personal difficulties.

The school conducts special courses in physical training, athletics, karate, music and dance, regular literary activities, picnics and excursion. St. Thomas School encourages various sports such as basketball, football, handball, kho-kho and indoor games.

The school encourages students to take social responsibility by reaching out to the poor and needy and also organizes awareness rallies on various occasions on problems afflicting the society.

General Information

Admission

The school admits children in LKG, UKG and class I. For admission in LKG the minimum age of the child as on April 1 of the academic year should be of 3.5 years while for UKG the child should be 4.5 years of age.

Registration forms are available at school office on the dates fixed by the school. The cost of a registration form is Rs. 100 and only parents are allowed to fill in the form and submit it on the spot (Forms are not to be taken out of the school campus). Date and time for the interview/test are mentioned in the counterfoil of the registration form, which must be produced at the time of the interview/test, during which the child must be accompanied by both parents. Results of the interview/test are displayed on the school notice board/school website.

St Thomas School, Kanpur offers financial and material help to Shishu Bhawan and Snehalaya – homes for the aged run by the nuns of Missionaries of Charity.
