Social Responsibility Forum (SRF) is a club of Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce, NMIMS University which was established for contributing to the society and to those less privileged than oneself. Since its start, SRF has always attempted to create awareness and a sense of accountability in the masses it meets.
Events held by SRF each year are crafted with passion and precision to invoke a sense of social responsibility among the participants of its events and provide exposure and contribution to the society. We at SRF, go by the belief that no matter how long a journey, it is still a series of small steps taken again and again.
AARAMBH, the flagship event of the club, is a social marathon, which calls for spirit, enthusiasm and energy among its participants. It is a 5-km marathon, where people from the entire city participate and run for a cause. SRF has had a long standing legacy in this event. This year, we are proud to organize its 10th edition. Every year, SRF addresses a new social problem and believes in coming up with solutions to eradicate it and achieve its aim for a better world to live in, thus giving shape to its motto of ‘Dream. Believe. Achieve’.
With a footfall of around 2000 participants and the 10th year of its titillating journey, Aarambh stands against the cause of Child Sexual Abuse. Child sexual abuse is a form of child abuse that includes sexual activity with a minor. A child cannot consent to any form of sexual activity, period. When a perpetrator engages with a child this way, they are committing a crime that can have lasting effects on the victim for years. Its high time that we put an end to this before this turns into a fatal vicious circle and eats us away.
Along with giving the participants a satisfaction of contributing to the welfare of beneficiaries of the NGO we collaborate with, they also get the thrill of competing against like-minded individuals. Any funds hereby collected are given to the NGO dedicated to the cause.
As Aarambh completes a decade this year, SRF has collaborated with ‘Arpan- Towards Freedom from Child Sexual Abuse’. Arpan is the largest NGO addressing the phenomenon of CSA in the country. They provide prevention and intervention services to children and adults. Since their inception in 2006, Arpan has directly touched lives of over 200,000 children and adults through healing and training programmes. Through their partnerships, they have reached out to over 880,000 children and adults.
We at Social Responsibility Forum stand strongly against such acts and intend to take empowering steps in order to make lives better for the less privileged ones.
As we take bigger strides to ensure ‘A World Free from Child Sexual Abuse’, we urge you to join and support us in raising awareness against the issue on 10th of February, 2019 at 7:00 a.m. at Bandstand, Bandra.
