Andhra Pradesh: CM launches Rs 620 crore free tablet distribution scheme

December 22, 2023

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated a noteworthy Rs 620-crore initiative aimed at distributing 4.3 lakh free tablets to school children over the course of 10 days. The launch event took place in Chintapalli, situated in the Alluri Sitaramaraju district, symbolizing a significant step towards advancing digital education in the state.

These tablets, each valued at Rs 33,000 and equipped with preloaded educational content, are set to be distributed to class eight students across all government and aided schools. This strategic move by the Chief Minister reflects a commitment to enhancing the learning experience for students and leveraging technology to bridge educational gaps.

In a public meeting held during the launch, Chief Minister Reddy emphasized the transformative potential of these tablets, stating that they serve as instrumental tools in breaking the shackles of poverty that have persisted through generations. He articulated a vision for these tablets as catalysts for change, predicting a significant positive impact on education in the coming decade.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Reddy expressed his commitment to ensuring that students can easily comprehend their lessons through the aid of these tablets. This distribution initiative is part of a broader strategy to bring about substantial changes in the education sector, underscoring the government’s dedication to creating a conducive learning environment.

Over the next 10 days, Chief Minister Reddy announced that Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) would actively participate in visiting every mandal, contributing to the efficient and widespread distribution of these educational tablets. This hands-on approach by political representatives highlights the government’s commitment to the success of this program.

Addressing political opponents, including N Chandrababu Naidu, and countering criticisms from certain media outlets, Chief Minister Reddy defended the initiative against allegations of unnecessary expenditure. He urged the public to discern and be cautious of opposition leaders who might resort to deceptive tactics, asserting that they would soon come up with alternative narratives to mislead the people.

In a call for support, Chief Minister Reddy encouraged citizens to evaluate the tangible benefits brought about during his regime and to rally behind initiatives that contribute to the welfare and educational upliftment of the people. The distribution of these tablets represents a progressive step in fostering a technologically empowered educational landscape in Andhra Pradesh, demonstrating the government’s commitment to inclusive and quality education for all.
