At GICLM, sports aren’t just an extracurricular activity—they’re an essential part of a student’s growth. Whether it’s shooting hoops, running laps, or strategizing over a chessboard, every game teaches something valuable. It’s not just about winning; it’s about teamwork, discipline, and pushing personal limits.

Sure, sports keep students fit, but they do much more than that. Playing regularly helps build:

  1. Leadership & Teamwork – Understanding how to support, lead, and collaborate
  2. Resilience & Patience – Learning to push through challenges and stay committed
  3. Strategic Thinking – Making quick decisions under pressure
  4. Confidence & Social Skills – Interacting, competing, and growing

Physically, sports boost endurance, improve heart health, and build stronger muscles and bones. But on a deeper level, they also shape students into well-rounded individuals who know how to win gracefully and lose with dignity.

From high-energy games to precision-based sports, students have plenty to choose from – Football, Basketball, Cricket, Swimming, Martial Arts, Gymnastics, Athletics, Chess. Each sport is integrated into the P.E curriculum, ensuring a progressive learning experience from primary to senior school.

Sports facilities

Great players need great facilities. At GICLM, students train in a top-tier sports environment, including:

Cricket turf & football field for match-ready training
Indoor basketball & volleyball courts for year-round practice
Table tennis & badminton facilities
A full-sized swimming pool
A fitness center for IBDP students, equipped for strength & cardio training

From parachutes for primary kids to improve coordination to speed ladders for agility training, the school ensures that training is age-appropriate, engaging, and skill-driven.

GICLM believes learning goes beyond textbooks. That’s why students can join after-school clubs that focus on specialized sports training, performing arts, language learning and science & innovation. These clubs allow students to develop their skills, explore new interests, and engage in hands-on learning outside regular school hours.

When it comes to competing, GICLM students step up. Their recent achievements include:

Basketball:

  • 🥇 1st place in U-18 Boys (defeating Bombay Scottish, Powai)
  • 🥈 2nd place in U-15 Girls

Football

  • Participated in American School of Bombay’s Under-14 tournament

Swimming

  • Competed in MSSA & VIVA Swimming Championships

Chess & Athletics

  • Inter-School Chess & Mumbai Schools Sports Association Athletic Meet

With each match, students aren’t just competing—they’re learning the importance of perseverance, sportsmanship, and continuous self-improvement.

Sports at GICLM are about more than just physical activity—they’re about building character, fostering discipline, and preparing students for life. Whether they go on to be athletes, professionals, or leaders, the lessons they learn on the field and court stay with them forever. At GICLM, sports don’t just happen outside the classroom—they’re woven into the very fabric of student life.
