The BV Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology (BVBCET) in Hubli, Karnataka was founded in 1947 as a polytechnic institute in Gadag and then moved to Hubli in 1948 with the upgraded status of an engineering college. BVBCET is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, and achieved its autonomous status in 2007. An ISO: 9001-2000 certified institution, BVBCET is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). It offers 12 undergraduate and eight postgraduate programs, besides M.Sc.(Eng.) and Ph.D. programs. BVB Training and Placement cell imparts training to students from second year BE onwards through HR programs like ‘VIKAS’. Top-notch companies such as TCS, MindTree , iGate Patni, Infosys, Accenture, TESCO, Robert Bosch, Informatica, Toshiba, Delphi, and Akamai visit the BVB campus every year with lucrative offers. 2011 batch saw 944 job offers while 2012 batch saw 891 job opportunities.
The BVB campus sprawls over 53 acres hosting world class infrastructure including modern classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, and facilities for outdoor and indoor sports. Outdoor sports facilities include an athletics track and spacious play grounds for cricket, volleyball, basketball, and football. There is an auditorium and a multi gym with weight lifting facilities too. The library is open 24 hours, and is well-stocked with large volumes of books and reference material. BVB offers accommodation for both boys and girls. Around 2000 students reside in hostels inside the campus.
BVB offers 12 under-graduate and 8 post graduate programs in various disciplines through its 12 departments. The college boasts a proficient faculty dedicated to the education and well-being of students. Admissions are done as per the Karnataka State Government regulations. Candidates should have cleared the Common Entrance test conducted by the Government of Karnataka (CET/Management seats) or ComedK Entrance Test (ComedK/Management seats) or All India Engineering Entrance Test (AIEEE - Management seats). Fees: Fee for undergraduate (B.Tech) course is about 1.25 lac per annum, with tuition fees ranging from about 15,000 to Rs 25,000. Post graduate (M.Tech ) tuition fee ranges from Rs 20,000 to Rs 60,000 per annum.
BVB is the first college in Karnataka to introduce Humanities department aimed at helping engineers nurture their social responsibilities, via programs like Social Innovation.
