The Central Board of Secondary Education has disaffiliated 20 schools and downgraded affiliation for three schools after it found them engaging in malpractice.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken stringent action against these schools who were found violating norms set by the board during a surprise inspection.
According to CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, inspections revealed discrepancies in adherence to affiliation and examination norms, following which action had to be taken.
Among the affected schools, five are located in Delhi, while others are spread across Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Dehradun and Madhya Pradesh. Schools in Delhi, Punjab, and Assam have faced affiliation downgrades.
In a statement, the CBSE said “CBSE schools across the country to check whether the schools are running as per the provisions and noms contained in affiliation and examination bye-laws, it was found that some schools were committing various malpractices of presenting dummy students, ineligible candidates and not maintained records property.”
