CCS announces 2nd edition of international short film competition

October 5, 2016

India’s leading public policy think tank, Centre for Civil Society (CCS) formally announced the second edition of the international short film competition “EduDoc”. The competition is open for submissions till 30 October, 2016. The theme for this year’s edition is ‘Education: Challenges, Innovations, Celebrations’ which it aims to highlight through the audio visual medium. The winning entries will be screened during the ‘School Choice National Conference’ at the India Habitat Centre on December 3, 2016. The films can be of 5 minutes or less duration.
Formally announcing the film competition, Amit Chandra, associate director, Centre for Civil Society said, “Post the resounding success of ‘Jeevika: Asia Livelihood Documentary Film Festival’ capturing livelihood challenges faced by the rural and urban poor, we thought of highlighting the challenges and rewarding the innovations in the education sector in order to inspire more such stories and edupreneurs. Hence, evolved the idea of ‘EduDoc’ international film festival last year.”

He also added, “The specialty of this short film competition is that it is focuses on the subject rather than the technology aspect of the films. The participants need to have a good subject, story and content. If anyone knows a good story relating to education, its challenges, he may even shoot it on his mobile camera and send it to us. This audio visual medium is a powerful tool in today’s tech savvy world which will help bringing isolated stories to the fore. It is our small step in the direction of spreading the wonderful work done by edupreneurs and inspire more such stories which in turn will help attain our right to education goals.”

An eminent jury will shortlist and reward the top three entries. For more details visit http://jeevika.org/edudoc/.
