The Delhi government has launched a five-day training program, “Project Abhishikt,” to help school teachers identify and nurture gifted students. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) is conducting this program for 104 teachers at a government school in Kalkaji, starting Tuesday.
The initiative focuses on several key areas: identifying gifted learners, selecting educators who can deliver a specialized curriculum, developing a curriculum tailored to the needs of gifted students, and ensuring its effective implementation. The aim is to bridge the gap between the students’ current capabilities and their potential by providing targeted support and a well-developed educational framework.
The project is designed for students in Class 6 and Class 9 who exhibit advanced abilities. It seeks to address the common issue of overlooking gifted students in favor of those who are struggling academically. By shifting focus to these students, the program aims to explore and develop their untapped potential.
Launched by the Directorate of Education and SCERT, the project will identify gifted students across 15 government schools. The training program began with an overview of giftedness and will include sessions on project goals and implementation strategies. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that exceptional students receive the support and resources needed to excel academically and personally.
