Delhi Public School, Ranchi is a co-educational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Established on July 17, 1989 it is managed by the Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi, a registered body under the Indian Societies Registration Act of 1860, run by eminent educationists and philanthropists.
The school boasts 7000 students and 150 faculty members. DPS Ranchi aims to offer a high standard of education which helps develop the students’ innate potential to the fullest.
The school hosts well-equipped modern labs for physics, chemistry, biology and computer science. It also houses a well stocked library with more than 20,000 books, separate rooms for art and music, well ventilated classrooms, a medical room and a canteen.
Classes I to VIII study English, Hindi, Sanskrit, mathematics, social science, general science, art, music and physical education. Students are offered hands-on learning activities that help them grasp the subjects well.
The school offers three streams in classes XI and XII – the medical (science) stream with electives such as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and economics, the non-medical (science) stream includes mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, engineering drawing and economics. In the commerce stream, subjects offered include business studies, accountancy, economics, and mathematics. Physical education, English, general studies, work experience, and health education are compulsory subjects for all streams.
Extracurriculars
Students participate in cultural activities, skits, debates, elocution, quiz, dance and music. Coaching is provided for cricket, football, track events, tennis, basketball and athletics.

Internet Wi-FiThe entry level is preparatory class for which children in the age group of 4.5 to 5.5 years are eligible for admission. Registrations are conducted in December and January.
For other classes, the school usually admits students only at the beginning of the April term. Students are admitted only after qualifying a written test and an interview with the admission panel.
Registration for class XI is done after declaration of the class X board results. Admission to class XI is strictly on the basis of the marks obtained by the students in the class X board exams.

The school’s principal J. Mohanty was honored with the National Award to Teacher – 2004 by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the then President of India on September 5, 2005 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Every year, a large number of DPS, Ranchi students qualify in Joint Entrance Examination for admissions to the Indian Institutes of Technology. In 2011, a total of 18 students qualified in IIT-JEE.
