Delhi’s LG directs DDA to develop Narela into education hub

October 10, 2023

Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has directed a focus on developing the Narela sub-city into an education hub, according to a statement from Raj Niwas on Monday. Saxena is actively involved in improving connectivity, civic infrastructure, and new projects in the Narela sub-city area, which has been a neglected DDA project.

In a recent meeting with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the LG emphasized developing a significant portion of Narela into an educational hub by providing land for universities and academic institutions looking to establish campuses.

The Narela sub-city covers approximately 3,828 hectares and is set to become an education hub, with land already allotted to institutions such as NIT, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, and the National Institute of Homeopathy.

The LG also directed that these land parcels should be clustered near housing projects to ensure residential and hostel facilities are available for the institutions. Additionally, plans include developing the area as a multi-modal logistics park, addressing the lack of large commercial centers, and implementing various civic infrastructure projects.
